Russia and learning Russian

Russia does not call for any verbosity; instead, all it requires is time, love and dedication. It is the birthplace of literary fiction, of the Russian soul, Moscow winter, samovar tea and vodka—a land where Slavic languages found a place to settle.

Nowadays, however, learning Russian extends throughout the world. Russian is spoken in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, former members of the USSR, as well as in certain expat communities in:

Germany,

Canada,

the US, and

Israel.

It is spoken by about 260 million people, 150 million of whom are native speakers.

Why take a Russian language course?

Learning Russian may come in quite handy for a number of reasons. First of all, Russian is one of the official languages of the United Nations. It is spoken within the European Union, the World Trade Organization, and other global institutions. Therefore, if you work in law, economy or industry, a course in Russian is a necessity. You may also be eligible for a scholarship enabling you to study in Russia.

As well as in business, knowledge of Russian can also prove helpful if you are planning to continue your studies in one of the world-renowned universities in Russian-speaking countries, but also if you only want to visit Russia for a couple of weeks. If the latter applies to you, bear in mind that being able to speak English won’t be very useful in this case. Russians prefer to speak their mother tongue.

It is for these reasons precisely that the Hi5 educational platform offers the possibility of learning wherever you might be. Our Russian language course is in fact distance learning of Russian, with dedicated tutors who are always available to provide answers to any questions you might have.
