International examinations for Greek

Once per year, usually in May, the Center for the Greek Language organizes examinations which lead to an internationally recognized diploma. The center is officially authorized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport.

You can take the exam at six different levels, from A1 to C2. Levels A1 – B1 test 4 linguistic skills (listening, reading, writing, and speaking), whereas levels B2 – C2 also include an assessment of Greek language usage, focusing on grammar and vocabulary.

Bear in mind that you will need to allow yourself plenty of time to apply for the exam, as well as that there is a fee for taking the exam. Additionally, bear in mind the following details:

Children younger than twelve can only take the A1 level exam.

Results for exams taken in May are usually made available by the end of July.

The application process begins as early as February, ending mid-March.
